Thanks, one of those gs tails might work with a little modding. Of course my idea was to do the tank and cowl is bare metal but it's gone come down to whatever works and looks decent. I'm looking foward just to getting it back on the road again before I go crazy with it.

Those are starting to look pretty good Dan. I'm sort of just getting into metal work myself. Started over the winter with fabricating some exhaust pipes for my bonneville america. used some cheap 1 3/4 exhaust tubing I bought at advance auto parts. Had a muffler shop put a 35 degree bend into them and mounted a cheap 12" mufller I bought from dennis kirk. Made up some heat shields from sheet steel and from an auto exhaust tip. Painted the pipe with high temp paint, but sent the heat shields to the chromers and it came out pretty nice. Someday I'll figure out how to post a pic. Also, I'm taking an adult ed course in welding. Had one clas so far and it's pretty cool stuff.

Keep up the good work on your project.

Thanks Pat & orion. Pat that exhaust is gonna be cool. Welding is really not that hard,as I'm sure your finding out.Metal work in general, is not that hard, depending on what your trying to do. You can do wonders with some pretty basic tools, and some imagination. A hand grinder or two, bench grinder, assorted sanding, grinding and cutoff discs, etc. and even a decent "splatter Box" welder from a home center, that uses flux cored wire. Now I wouldn't use it for a frame, but it's fine for sheet metal work. And practice. Take the attitude that I'm gonna make this thing, and if I F@!& it up, I'll fix it or redo it. Dan.
